Mentor Expectations

Mentors are Ohio State University students ready to communicate about math and teach others how to teach themselves. The following is expected from the mentors:

• Be helpful. Provide feedback that helps students discover their own understanding of mathematics.

• Expected to read and respond to email every day.

• Keep an up-to-date line of communication with their students.

• Update site coordinators and Lee every week.

• Be responsible of their Hotline hours.

• Inform Lee of any issues before it becomes a big problem.

• Get help if school or work becomes overbearing.

• Mentors are not expected to know all the answers. They are expected, however, to ask Lee or another mentor to find the answer and then get back to the student in a timely manner.
