So, you want to make a web page, eh? Or, more likely, we want you to make a web page. It's time to get your creative juices flowing. The first step is to figure out what you want to put on your web page. For just a basic page, we'd like you to have a picture of yourself, and some info about you. You can do as much or as little as you want.

HTML is a very simple computer language used to make web pages. HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. HyperText basically means that you are linking text to other text, images, etc. The Markup part means that you "mark" the text to do this. HTML is incredibly simple and requires no experience to use. This tutorial will take you through the basics, everything you need to create a good web page.

All you need to write HTML is a basic text editor, such as Windows Notepad, or Mac SimpleText. You can use any word processor if you like, but you will need to save the file as PLAIN TEXT. Otherwise, your page may look very strange. In addition, there are several free and commercial HTML editors available. Check The Free Site and Tucows for several options.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me or your mentor. Another good way to pick up some tricks is to see how other people wrote their pages. When you're at a page, just go to the View menu in Netscape, and choose Page Source.
